Ida Staffier Bial, founder of IMS Design Group and Some Like It Old..Some Like It New... brings a standard of excellence to design by personally creating and overseeing all client projects, from the creation of the floor plan to the details in custom finish work. She is a perfectionist when it comes to detail, which is why she has her own in-house drapery workroom…where she personally oversees each project, whether it be custom window treatments, bedding or upholstery. Her client base includes residential, commercial and small business owners as well as builders and developers.
Her 25 years of expertise in design is unique for many reasons:
Life is all about design...it's that simple!
… She offers a strong, instinctual eye for visual color, balance and texture…which is a gift that cannot be "taught." It is her intuitive sense that enables her to guide each client to creating a vision that best represents his or her lifestyle.
… Her previous career as a wedding gown designer gave her an exquisite sense of style, craftsmanship and precision. She worked for Priscilla's of Boston on fashionable Newbury Street and House of Bianchi. Prior to her work experience, she trained at the School of Fashion Design in Boston, The Boston Architectural College and The Ray Vogue School of Design in Chicago, where she was the assistant to the head designer for one of the top interior design firms.
... In 2002 she was chosen to design the vestibule and foyer for the Joseph Story Designer Show house in Salem, Mass.
... In 2004 she was selected by HGTV to be one of three designers highlighted for their hit series "Designers Challenge".
… In 2007 she was recruited by the North Shore Community College to become part of their Interior Design Certificate Program teaching staff, and also in their “Kids to College” program for children 10-17 in Fashion Design and Interior Design.
... In 2011 while researching furniture for a design project she stumbled upon CHALK PAINT® decorative paint by Annie Sloan…referred to as “the best paint in the world”…and IT ABSOULTELY WAS. So, at that point Ida knew that it was time for her long awaited dream of opening a retail store to come true… and that’s when SOME LIKE IT OLD…SOME LIKE IT NEW… was born … and the rest is history.
In addition to her fine individual expertise, Ida collaborates with her hand-chosen group of professionals…contractors, cabinet makers, muralists, stone masons, carpet installers, electricians and other craftsmen…who meet her high quality design criteria.
